CAMBC is a local chapter of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) based in Charlottesville, VA. Our goal is to promote sustainable multi-use public trail systems within Charlottesville and surrounding counties. We emphasize responsible trail use and bicycle safety. We strive to foster positive relationships with other trail users, clubs and municipal and federal land managers. We also ride bikes! Join us to build and ride in our local community.

Current Projects

Heyward Community Forest

CAMBC has hired AAMPL Trail Construction to help with various phases of our work at Heyward. Recently a new contour trail has been put into the very steep terrain of Song Mountain. CAMBC volunteers turned out in HUGE numbers to get the finishing work done on the new section. There is plenty more to do out out at Heyward, stay tuned. If you see trail closure signs, please obey them, as there may be excavator work happening.

Biscuit Run Master Plan

Albemarle County began phase 1 of the Biscuit Run Master Plan. CAMBC is involved in design of new mountain bike and multiuse trails in the park.

Local Trails

Preddy Creek

Preddy Creek is situated on 571 acres of wilderness north east of Charlottesville. Preddy Creek has 16 miles of multipurpose trail used by hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers. Trails are well marked, and following the Preddy Creek Outer Loop will get you back to the parking lot. Preddy caters to cyclists, runners, and hikers of varying skill levels, from beginner to advanced.

Blue Ridge School

Blue Ridge School is a private boarding school that has graciously opened their trail system to the public. There is a waiver that needs to be signed to access the trails. Public parking is in the large gravel lot outside of the school. Please stay on the trails and do not go onto the main campus.

Trails for all skill levels are available. Climb to the top of Moonshine and back for amazing downhill flow. Ride the extremely steep terrain of Foreshot, or the technical features of Copperhead and Senior Rock. Beginner riders will enjoy the Chelsey Creek loop.

O-Hill

O-Hill is owned by the University of Virginia and represents some of the most aggressive trails in the Charlottesville Area. Its location along the RTF makes it a popular destination as part of an in-town mountain bike ride. Be prepared for steep, rocky climbs and descents. Trails cross each other all over the mountain, making it relatively easy to make several laps up and down the mountain without repeating many trails.
