Rides

CAMBC holds a variety of regularly scheduled rides.  They are a great way to meet riding partners, learn new trails, hone your skills, stay in shape and otherwise have fun on your bike.

Beginner Rides

Beginner rides for the 2014 season begin soon! They are a great way to find some local single track, fellow riders, or just dust off your bike and get it out there again.  Everyone welcome from first timers, weekend warriors, patient experts looking to do a recovery ride, etc.  Kids welcome with parental chaperone.  Questions or comments about an upcoming right?  Email beginners@cambc.org.

Stay tuned to mtb@cambc.org for more details about the 2014 season, with special thanks to Rob Eastman for organizing.

Thursday Super-Secret Ride

The Thursday ride is “super secret” in that the start location is not advertised.   Pace is intermediate, but no drop.  We ride intermediate to expert level trails for 1.5-2 hours. In the winter, we’ll need lights suitable for night riding.  Tail lights are encouraged as we often end the ride right at dusk, and have a busy road to cross.  Seriously bad weather cancels, but moderate weather may involve riding gravel roads instead of singletrack.  Watch mtb@cambc.org for details!

Ride start is at 5:30pm, email supersecret@cambc.org for details.

Summer Epic Ride Series (SERS)

The SERS rides are an introduction to big mountain riding, typically in the George Washington National Forest (GWNF).  Rides typically involve expert level trails and strenuous climbs (i.e., climbs that last an hour or more).    To combat the challenge, we’llpractice the “big mountain” riding style — no man left behind.

You need to be prepared for these rides! A pump, 2 inner tubes, extra water, and a snack (preferably a sandwich) are required.  Also, don’t forget keep your bike tuned up, tires pumped, and your helmet strapped on tightly!

Rides happen every other Saturday from mid-April until mid-October.  Weather cancels.  Details for the 2014 season coming shortly.

On Hiatus, We need your help!

Several of the rides we’ve held in the past are not be currently being held because no one has stepped up to send out weekly/monthly emails about when we can get together.  Can you send email and ride a bike?  You could be a ride leader.  Email board@cambc.org and we’ll work out the right ride for you!

Sunday Social Ride

A social paced ride to help you recover from a hard ride on Saturday, or just to chat with a ride buddy.

On hiatus because we need a ride leader!  Can you help lead this ride?  Choose your own time, trail, day of the week, etc.  No special skills needed, just the ability to get out there and ride!  Please volunteer.  Email board@cambc.org to help out.

Wednesday Night Ride

Riding after dark is fun!  Typically this intermediate ride starts late in the evening, year-round with varying venues.

Fast Paced Rides

Go fast, breath hard, and train those legs.  Every climb is a KOM.  Did you turn Strava on, it doesn’t count otherwise!
